Alison studied Nutrition and Dietetics at Leeds Metropolitan University and graduated with a first class honours degree in Dietetics in 2003.
Alison is an Advanced Specialist Dietitian with over 20 years of clinical experience and has specialised in gastroenterology and surgery since 2006. She is currently employed at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she is the Dietetic Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and leads a team of dietitians to provide specialist dietetic advice to a wide range of individuals with gastrointestinal and surgical conditions. She is also the dietetic clinical lead for nutrition, and member of the Nutrition Steering Group.
Alison's areas of interest include Irritable Bowel Disease (IBS) and Coeliac Disease. She is a FODMAP trained dietitian, receiving training at Kings College London, and a member of the Health Advisory Council of Coeliac UK.
Alison is fully registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (DT09155) and a member of the British Dietetic Association. She is also a member of the following specialist groups:

British Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN)
Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group (PENG) of the British Dietetic Association
Professional member of Coeliac UK
Outside of dietetics Alison enjoys swimming, walking and spending time with her young family. She has an interest in food and travel.
